    Default ZED tickets - taxes

I always get puzzled when the subject is airport taxes.

Say I have two ZED tickets -> LHR – BKK and FRA-BKK

They fall within the same mileage zone (7) – to make it simple let’s consider both to be ZL tickets . The price difference will depend exclusively on airport taxes. So far so good.

I have always heard that LHR taxes are extremely high. Why? What’s the difference between FRA and LHR taxes (in terms of variables)?

How do you breakdown these taxes? Fuel, departure tax, etc…

Is there any chart where I can check taxes fares (applicable to ZED tickets)?

How much is the BKK-LHR and BKK-FRA taxes? If this last question is sensitive, please send me a private message!

I understand it’s a lot of questions; please share with me the ones you know!

    Thank you all.

UK departure taxes are definitely much higher than taxes departing Germany. For departures from the UK you pay the GB and UB which are air passener duties and passenger service charges, respectively. For departures from DE you pay the DE & RA. The DE is a security tax and the RA is a passenger service charge. Fuel charges should not be collected on ZED tickets unless it is for travel on your own airline.

Thailand has only a passenger service charge (TS) that applies to any inernational departures out of Thailand, so the total amount for BKKLHR & BKKFRA will be exactly the same.

IF, and that's a BIG IF, I can go 48-72 hrs JFK/LHR early Dec (hey, it's been 20 yrs for me!!) the DL fees are around $140.
Bonus is the 767-400 with flat BEDs--not pods.
I agree w/Pago on those $$$, tho--it has to be special--even Christmas would be OK for me! Boss would be flying and I"get high priority.

Do you still have these beds on the 767? They were a great day seat, but kinda claustrophobic as a bed. That being said I prefer arm room and aisle access, and this was a lot nice in the arm room than herringbone. ZED tickets - taxes-img_0335-jpg

Last November we flew from ATL to LIM on a 777 with the cacoon seat/bed. It was ok...
Returning we had the regular Bus. Class seats and thought they were more comfortable...

I still havent figured out the pod /cocoon things--comfort-wise, so my jury is still out, Pago, even tho we've done several LONG haul JNB, NRT, DXB legs. I think this 767-4 has the herringbone, but I guess I won't know till I get on board...IF he bids the trip.
The 777 LIM was only once/wk (peak 2X) so we missed that. I think that AC has now been assigned elsewhere. So many moves thruout the merger adjustments.
