Default IDdeals.com, good source of availability info?

    Hello Everyone,

Just wondering what y'alls experience with iddeals.com was? For example is most of the information regarding loads realistic (I know they wont SHOW how many actual seats) but is it close enough, or should it be taken with a grain of salt. For example I did a try looking at flights with my own airline and the info regarding seat availabiltiy came close. Thank you all for your input.

    Regards,

    Chepos

I've done a trial too, and they seem to be correct indeed for my airline...

I guess they use the same method as all the others really, i.e. looking at the booking class availabilities?

The only difference being here that they try to work out an actual number of seats from it.

As long as the airline isn't overbooking the flight, they seem to do it very well indeed.

I have used them for years since at the time, they were the only site that offered seat numbers.
I currently have membership w/ ASU Guide and they have the enhanced seat info now. IDdeals is less $$ than ASU by a longshot, but ASU has zillions more hotels (well, thousands...)

Former airline folks with some pretty good IT skills to back up their programs. They published an interline magazine (still available) for many years that evolved into the website.

Looks like IDdeals only shows economy open seats. Does ASU breakout bizz and coach availability? I'd tried Flightstats.com but their info was not accurate.

don't expect OALs to upgrade on zeds if that's the angle you're tracking
Ask ASU for trial period. 866-483-5056 (Annie)

yes, but I think ASU only shows a range of 'good' 'bad' etc where as iddeals gives actual number forecasts. Also the 'zillions' of hotels on ASU are not actually airline employee deals, they are just low rates comparable to many other internet deals. iddeals may have fewer, but hey 8,000 (they claim) is not bad, and every single one of them is a proper airline industry rate....which means you do not have to pay upfront and can usually cancel up until 4pm on day of arrival which is great if you do not get on the flight.

The current ASU system does indeed give numbers--no longer a range of good/poor etc, which is why I suggested a look-see.
they do have specially negotiated rates with some hotels, others aren't a big discount but do offer discounts for over 60,000 properties. Many better rates can be found with agoda, think2travel etc if you ahve the patience and trust to deal with side brokers
iddeals has been my source for several years but DL has the exact same discounts with major chains thru our travelnet as iddeals offers. ASU does offer numerous small properties that you will never find on idd.
If your'e based in ARN--I'll wave when I come back third wk this month!

Not quite! The 'numbers' given on ASU are simply the maximum number in a single fare class that can be booked in one reservation request...usually either a '9' or a '7'. That is the most they ever show. That really only tells you that they are still selling.

Two different flights each showing a '9' could mean one has 10 seats left and the other has 110. I know which one I would prefer to stand by for! iddeals goes further and deeper in its attempt to forecast how many actual unsold seats there might be.
    take care!
