Thread: Cancun shark attack?

I just had to search about this if there were any shark attacks recorded on Cancun at any time. I came across this article about a Canadian woman that eventually lost her arm which was badly damaged after the shark attack, plus her struggle to walk again. This is just a preliminary article on the ordeal. It goes through my mind whenever I go swimming in the ocean. Cancun being so blue with excellent visibility, I looked around good before going in the water, and went wherever there were plenty of swimmers. Never go far out alone and never go in in the evening or morning hours. When sharks feed. Sometimes this doesn't work. This lady was in waste deep water.

The Canadian tourist who was the victim of a shark attack in the waters off Cancun earlier this week is "in remarkably high spirits," according to a report in the Ottawa Citizen.
Contrary to early news accounts, the woman, Nicole Ross, 38, of Orangeville, Ontario, did not lose an arm in the attack. However, she did suffer severed muscles and tendons in her lower leg, forearm and hand, according to the medical facility in Cancun where she was taken.
The attack occurred after Ross went into shallow water after playing a game of beach volleyball, media reports say. A lifeguard pulled her to safety.
A doctor at the Cancun hospital called the attack "exceptional" for Cancun. Shark attacks are rare in Mexico. The News agency Notimex reported a shark attack near Cancun in 2008 that killed a local man. In 2008, two swimmers died on the Pacific coast near Zihuatanejo.
