I never went to usaviation.com, but checked it out. Seems like a pretty good web site. I learned from there that UAL retirees go behind active employees in the merger. How does your airlines do it? This is my take on the issue. Active employees SHOULD go first over retirees because they are more detrimental to the operation. Active employees must get back to home base to work on airplanes that RETIREES fly on. Secondly, active employees don't have the lesiure and time to hang around airports waiting to hitch a ride, whereas a retiree has more time to get back home, more flexible in comparison to an active employee needing to get back to work. Would suck to have to compete with those guys to try and get back to your base. Thirdly, I'm an active employee and its ALL ABOUT ME! I'm glad somebody had sense to do the right thing there. I'm sure in other instances, others, or myself may not be happy about some things going the other way.
