So how are they doing? I'm interested in general because I like them, and would like to see them offer more gateway cities here.

Hey Tony,
I would ventrue to say they are doing well on the route, ORD is an AA hub and HKG is a CX hub. So this is a oneworld to oneworld hub flight. Out of the HKG hub CX offers a wide array of destinations in Asia and Australia, out of ORD AA offers a wide array of destinations in the midwest. I had the opportunity to fly them from ORD to HKG back in NOV and the flight was excellent. 15 hours and 23 minutes in flight, by the time we got to HKG I was so disorieted and out of wack, that being said the plane was empty so it was a veyr comfortable flight (just a month after the route launched). The food served on the plane was pretty good, cabin crew on both the outbound and the return were OK, some were rather stern. If you have the opportuity visit HKG do it, great city and good airline.

HK is one of my fave destinations!! If I had my EASA license, i would apply for CX and happily move there! I've looked on flyzed recently, seems most of the time the flights are red. So I guess they are doing good.
I've flown them twice, and DragonAir once. Even though we don't have an agreement with DragonAir, they (CX) put me on one of their flights from PEK to HKG last year when the CX flight cancelled. Excellent flights, and good service too.
