After spending the past two years at number two, Qatar Airways nabbed the top spot at the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards. The airline, which won in 2011 and 2012, also took home prizes for best airline in the Middle East and best business-class seat.
2. ANA - Japan's ANA remains a fixture in the top 10. In 2014 it held sixth place. A year earlier it was fourth.
3. Cathay Pacific – Last year's winner, Cathay has been bumped from the top slot. Instead it took home the award for best transpacific airline
4. Emirates - A 2013 winner, the Dubai-based carrier remains in strong form. Last year it took the fourth spot. This year it won the award for best entertainment system
5. Etihad – Consolidating the grip held by Emirati airlines, Abu Dhabi-based Etihad remains in the top 10
6. EVA Air – This year's awards mark a climb into the top 10 for Taiwan's EVA. The past two years it's held the number 12 slot. EVA was also recognized as having the cleanest aircraft cabins
7. Garuda Indonesia – In addition to making the top 10 airlines list, Garuda Indonesia's cabin crew were named as the best in the world.
8. Qantas – This year marks a return to the top 10 for Qantas, which dropped to 11 in 2014. The Australian airline also returned to profitability this year after a deep program of cost cutting
9. Singapore Airlines – It's held the number three position for the past two years, and once again Singapore Airlines makes the top 10 but misses out on the crowning glory.
10.Turkish Airlines – Turkish Airlines is the only European airline carrier included in the top 10 this year following the relegation of Germany's Lufthansa.
