Not that crazy, I went to Tokyo for sushi, from US, was gone for 36 hours and spent a total of 8 hours on ground in Japan. Just enough time to get into Tokyo, eat, and get back the airport.
Very good sushi and we only went to one of the chain 'conveyor belt' sushi places.
Unable to do that trip anymore since flight times have now changed, you used to be able to land in NRT at 4pm and fly out of HND at midnight.
The part that really sucked was coach both directions.
