    Default Crazy travel plan?

I'm currently pounding on what I like to call "Dinner & a movie". Fact is that me and my partner are airplane crazy and love flying, and since we are able to fly almost for free we are now planning to fly from Europe to ORD and immediately fly back. Yeah, you read that right Of course only if premium seats are available.

Previous years we did this durng Christmas holiday but always booked a night to stay and visi the city. But now we happen to only have time to fly back immediately

The question that I have is: is it possible to leave the plane and stay at the gate for boarding again or is it really necessary to go full circle along border control? I suspect the latter as one could decide to leave the secure area through anoher way and as such enter the US without passing border control.

Oh I get a quick turnaround, but to go to Chicago with no plans for a slice of Chicago deep dish pizza or even a Chicago hot dog - makes me sad, and very hungry. ( I gotta get to Chicago ) *wink*

For the US, you will need to clear immigration and security. Iberia used to have a hub in MIA whereby travelers from the MAD flight would be able to connect to onward Latin America flights without having to clear US immigration. After this option was eliminated, they closed the hub.

I'm not familiar with Flaco's but the menu and the prices do look good. Will try and stop by next time I'm in Chicago. In LA I like EL Cholo for dinner and Tito's (Culver City) for a quick burrito.

Not that crazy, I went to Tokyo for sushi, from US, was gone for 36 hours and spent a total of 8 hours on ground in Japan. Just enough time to get into Tokyo, eat, and get back the airport.
Very good sushi and we only went to one of the chain 'conveyor belt' sushi places.
Unable to do that trip anymore since flight times have now changed, you used to be able to land in NRT at 4pm and fly out of HND at midnight.
The part that really sucked was coach both directions.

I'm still trying to convince my partner to go for Chicage Deep Pizza but I'm the only fav on that. My significant other prefers a thin crust pizza. Anyways, flight times are a bit méh in that sense too, we only have 5 hours between touch down and end of boarding flight back. Anyone knows the fastest way to get into town and back? Of course, after an 8h orso flight in F/C , the question begs, are we still going to be hungry enough for a pizza?

Still happy to not be considered crazy

There is a Gino's East pizza one stop away from the airport in Rosemont on the red line. Might be tight with only 5 hours to spare to get to downtown and back as that ride takes about 45 min - 1 hour each way on the red line. You could probably take an uber but according to Google maps, it's about a 25 min drive without traffic.

I'm a native New Yorker but have no shame in enjoying deep dish when in the windy city.

I gotta go along with isppilot on this one, you'd be cutting it way to close trying to make it downtown and back (it take 45 minutes to cook a deep dish). Better choice to go to one of the places, Gino's, or my favorite Giordano's in Rosemont- maybe 15 minutes by UBER.

And isppilot, I will admit I do enjoy a thin crust now and then, although it takes some getting use to, eating pizza with my hands. *laughing*
