    Default Hawaii preclear

Going to HI? Did you know that the state of Hawaii has a partnership with several airlines that allow you to preclear the arrival process before you even leave the mainland? It will save you tons of time and, yes, nonrevs can preclear! The process for entering HI at this time (except for Kauai which is currently opted out of the testing program but is stating their intention to opt back in 05APR) is that travelers create a safe travels profile https://travel.hawaii.gov/#/ and upload the flight information of your desired flight along with a recent photo. Travelers must have a test take 3 days or less before departure from a trusted testing provider https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel/. Not all tests are accepted which is why you MUST get tested from someone on this list. Once you have the results please upload them to the safe travels profile making sure that your results show the following: Name (please make it the same as the one on your ticket for ease of preclear), dob, the NAME OF THE TESTING PROVIDER (i.e. Walgreens, CVS, Kaiser, etc), the type of test (NAAT or PCR), the collection date (imperative) and the results. The state sends you an email with a health questionnaire that you can answer at the 24 hour mark before your flight. Please answer it ASAP or it will be difficult to preclear you.

All adults 18 and over require their own profile and all children under 18 must be on an adult profile - this includes lap infants. Children 5 and over require a test but anyone under 5 is exempt from testing requirements. All of this (including test results) must be done BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT'S SCHEDULED DEPARTURE. If you don't get on that flight, update your profile with your new flight and keep in mind the 3 day limit on the testing. The state does not have a waiver in place for those who have been vaccinated at this time so you must test and have the results uploaded before departure or you will be subject to quarantine upon arrival.

Why do this? If you preclear then you can get off of your plane and leave the airport without standing in line to clear! You must be cleared and have the QR code that shows this either printed or electronically in order to rent a car or check into a hotel amongst other things. Save yourself time and stay out of what could be a long line upon arrival.

Great info, thanks! Hawaii is on my short list of places to visit this summer. I knew about the testing requirements but didn't know about preclear.
