Airline competition at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport is heating up, with Delta Air Lines saying Tuesday it plans to begin nonstop daily flights between Milwaukee and New York John F. Kennedy International.
The announcement comes about a week after JetBlue began service between Milwaukee and JFK.

The Delta flights between MKE and JFK are scheduled to begin on June 6. MKE is the International Air Transport Association identifier for Milwaukee Mitchell International. Delta already flies nonstop between Milwaukee and New York LaGuardia.



The new Delta flights to JFK will operate with Bombardier CRJ-700 regional jet aircraft.
Delta is number 2 in passenger market share at Milwaukee Mitchell International, carrying 21% of the passengers at the airport.
Southwest Airlines leads in market share in Milwaukee, flying about 40% of the passengers who pass through the airport.
Milwaukee Mitchell International is owned and operated by Milwaukee County.
