    Hi all!

I'm the new owner of nonrev.net, and I've been working with nonrev1 over the last week or so on transitioning site ownership.

He's not going anywhere...still here as an administrator, so no worries there.

I've been working on an upgrade for the site, and would like all of you to know what's going on along the way. We're still a ways away from moving it, but I thought you might want to have a very early preview of the "beta" forums area.

I have it up on a test server at http://leadtweet.com/ ( the name itself means nothing, just an extra domain I had ).

At the moment, I'd just like to verify that you are able to log in using your existing password. I have lots more work to do to get the new forums working well. I did synchronize the user database, avatar pictures, threads, etc, but just a quick initial try. Since the new forum is a different technology ( vBulletin, versus the existing IPB ), getting the password syncing right is the first step.

So, go ahead and have a look, try a test posting, etc.

( Note again that it's just a beta test... nothing is changing on nonrev.net for the moment. Lots more work to do, just trying to keep everyone informed...)

    Thanks!

    Hi Kerry

    My login worked fine.

I like the new format, the customizable navbar at the top and how the articles display on the main page. I know personally I often ignore blogs/articles as they are "way over there on the left". The idea of having them front and center with a lead in pic and short lead in paragraph is a great idea.

Anyways welcome to the boards, haven't seen you post before maybe you have under another name!

As an aside... you seem reasonably up on computers, do you work in Technology at HDQ? I did an internship in Dispatch back in 2007 and one of my friends from Technology is here visiting with me now

Thanks Nick. The short answer is "sort of". I was an employee at SWA some time ago. I run my own company now. The "sort of" part is that they are a client of mine, so yes, I'm in their building quite a bit.

I did notice that your login brings up an issue of sorts. vBulletin doesn't have a concept of separate "login names" and "display names". I'll have to think about what to do with that.

Good point. I'm not sure how common that is across the board. I'm quite happy to change my login name if I need to

EDIT - just played some more.. I like the notifications tab. Kinda like facebook, good idea

    Hi Kerry

My login worked fine also. I do like seeing the first few line of a post before clicking. It will help when I don't have a lot of time and just what to do a quick look see.

While you're checking here... I had talked about making a city tool, a travel guide of sorts geared towards nonrevs. See http://nonrev.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2895. The development kind of slowed down when the semester started, but what are the odds of integrating it with this site once it's up and running?

    Thanks!

spongbue: certainly open the idea. I think the hard part is getting enough people to actually create the content. Travelocity, for example, owns IgoUgo.com, which I bet many people have never heard of. So, even a big company with travel roots has significant issues getting quality content

Fair enough. I'll work on it a bit when my schedule allows and we'll see what happens

Oh, and since you're new here... welcome aboard, new captain!
