The Grant Park Music Fesitval
Acclaimed by critics and beloved by audiences, the Grant Park Music Festival is the nation’s only remaining free, outdoor summer classical music series. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park is the official home of the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus.
Founded in 1935, The Grant Park Music Festival is presented by the Chicago Park District, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Grant Park Orchestral Association. The Grant Park Music Festival, featuring the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus, presents over 30 free concerts between June and August. Concerts are generally performed on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.
All Grant Park Music Festival performances are free to the public. The lawn and general seating section in the pavilion are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Season memberships are available, which include seating in the reserved section as well as invitations to special events.

Chicago 2007---Summer of the cicadas!
We ran into our first swarm just outside of O'Hare, cicadas dive bombing our car with a vengence. Within a matter of minutes the windshield is smeared with "hundreds" of their bodies. *EEEYUCK* I'm tellng you, these once every 17 year insects, must realllly love the new SUVs and outdoor graduation ceremonies![]()
