    Hi Donna,

Becky and I have our 10th anniversary coming up in late October. We're thinking about a destination out west to depart from our usual beach vacations. I'm thinking maybe 4 nights or so and we would like to relax and stay local to our accomodation most of the time but are open to perhaps one day trip. Becky is cold natured so I'm thinking maybe Tucson would be a little warmer. However, she has mentioned Sedona and I've heard it's really beautiful.

    Any ideas?

Sedona is gorgeous and the weather in October would be wonderful. Cool evenings and warm days would be normal at that time of the year (probably in the 70's during the day) and there is a lot to do. It's a popular place to plan a romantic getaway for a few days. Sedona has so many wonderful resorts and B&Bs that you'd be hardpressed to find a bad place to stay. There are lots of upscale shops and restaurants in town and the Pink Jeep tours are worth taking. The grand canyon would be about 1.5 hours away for a fun day trip. You'd fly into Phoenix and drive about 2.5 hours or so out of town on some very scenic roads.

Tucson is going to be warmer during the day by maybe 10-15 degrees but also has many things to do. If you stay there, I would recommend Loew's Ventana Canyon resort. I love it. It's in the foothills of the Catalina mountains and is one of the most peaceful places I've ever visited. There are lots of hiking opportunities nearby and a little town just up the mountain from the resort where the weather is considerably cooler. Tucson has the added benefit of being close to everything that a big city offers. San Xavier del Bac (a wonderful old spanish mission) is a wonderful day trip in the south of Tucson.

    Either place will be great.

Sedona is gorgeous. As Donna said definately take a Pink Jeep tour, it's expensive, but really great. I would recommend going midweek as the weekends are rather crowded. The Grand Canyon is a great day trip, however we weren't much for that 90 minute drive there and back, so we spend the night in Williams and took the train (20% discount with AAA) to the Grand Canyon in the morning. BTW, if you do decide on the train, make sure you arrive early, you wouldn't want to miss the bank robbery and shootout, right there at the depot.
Another day trip you might consider is Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monuments.

Oh and Chris, the 10th anniversary is diamonds just in case your curious.

    Keep'em flying

    Hi Donna,
I had posted in the "Checking Loads" section about an upcoming trip to SEA. Migflanker suggested to post here if I do not get any responses from anyone there. Can you help? Below is what I posted there:
I am trying to get to Seattle from Dallas on 5th April(evening) and back on 8th April (evening).

AA flights does not look good. I am thinking of doing ZED on Alaska Airlines (AS809) on the outbound leg(5th April) and AS808/AS806 on the inbound leg (8th April). I am open to one stops also if someone has any suggestions.

    Thanks in advance
