I'm thinking of organising a road trip for myself and a couple of friends to the Mojave Desert, Death Valley & Arizona, and would definately like to camp and trek around Supai, in the Grand Canyon. It is a remote area with beautiful waterfalls, some 8 miles from any road.

Has anyone ever been there who can share their experiences of the place??

I haven't been yet but I know a lot about it. If you want to get down to Supai, there are 3 ways. You can hike (bring LOTS of water as it is a long trek), ride a horse or take a helicopter. There is a helicopter company that flies out of the grand canyon helipad that will do the round trip for a little over $100. The one ways are half that. I plan to give it a try once the weather cools a bit and I am thinking of hiking in and taking a helicopter out. Please remember that there are several different falls in the area and the biggest one is a couple of extra miles from Supai itself so you are in for a long walk. Also, the biggest mistake people make is not bringing enough water. Those who are not from the desert often don't realize that you will never feel really sweaty so you won't know how dehydrated you are getting until it is too late.
