Hello Evan, Just a few more days and my son and I will be in SLC for a couple of days..any suggestions on a nice place for us to have dinner? That is IF I can pull my son away from the slopes!

Well that all depends on what you like to eat. I am not a sea food eater so I dont know any of those type places, however if you like good Tex Mex, then I would suggest a place called Cafe Pierpont. It is part of the gastronomy group.

www.gastronomyinc.com They have several places to eat including sea food. they are all down town Salt Lake and GREAT food and atmosphere. it is the place to be. If you are looking for less expensive food then there are alot of other places but you will need to just drive around and see what you like.

Good luck in your trip and let me know how it goes,

Well Evan... we had a wonderful time. The mountains were breathtaking. We went to Brighton the first day, the second Snowbird. We loved Brighton best. Actually, we didn't like Snowbird at all. However, we are still glad we checked it out. Brighton is all about skiing and snowboarding...we felt that Snowbird was all about everything else but skiing and snowboarding. Both places had PERFECT weather.
We did go to Cafe Pierpont for lunch, it was very nice, thanks for the suggestion. We did end up at Tucci's one evening, that place I would highly recommend, great food at a reasonable price.
What surprised me the most?--> how bustling with people downtown Salt Lake is in the evening. AND...YIKES, what is it with so many cars passing on double lines to and from the ski slopes on the canyon??!!!! Wowzies...dare devils!!!!! I guess they must be the same ppl going down the double diamond slopes!!! :-)
We can't wait to go back :-)

I am glad to hear that you had a good time. I love Cafe Pierpont and it is good to hear that you enjoyed it. I have never eaten at the other place you went but I am sure it was good as well.

You are right about Snowbird. It is all about the money and it is more about what you look like than how fun you have. Solitude and Brighton are the best for fun. You will have to come back again and next time let me know. I would love to meet some of you guys on here.

So, did you end up staying at a hotel or with family? let me know what it was like and if you would recomend it for the price if it was a hotel.
    Thanks for the report.

We stayed at the SWA crew hotel..West Coast Hotel..great price of $51.00 offered to SWA, 2 queen size beds. If you can get the airline discount it is a great deal. It was a nice, clean hotel. I am glad we stayed there, we were right in downtown Salt Lake City. A pilot I had met a week before I went, suggested that I should stay closer to the slopes and to check priceline.com, I never did. I am very glad we stayed in the city, although it was a 40 minute drive to the slopes, it was great being able to drive a couple of blocks into the city and walk around every night, check out the city. We would have never traveled to the city if we had stayed closer to the slopes. I am happy we went to walk around Temple Square and just walk around the city in general. We got the best of both worlds...skiing and a nice city :-)
