I am trying to decide between a trip to Montana to Glacier National Park, and one to Crater Lake in Oregon.
Any suggestions?

I am unfamiliar with Crater Lake, but have spent a lot of time in Glacier National Park. This is my childhood home away from home. It is very beautiful. If you are looking to get away from it all this is the place. You can find a nice luxury place to stay in the area, but you could just as easily rent a nice little cabin on a lake. There are lots of outdoor activities, it's a year round destination.
If you've been watching the news, you know you may wish to rethink Glacier National Park for a while. The fires are pretty bad still and we have had people changing their reservations because their hotel is closed down right now. I don't know how much of the park has burned so far but I know it was a lot. The scenery wouldn't be lovely. I haven't been to Crater Lake but I hear it's beautiful.

The fires mostly affect the remote northwest and north central of Glacier's backcountry (approximately 5% of the park's 1,000,000 acres). The Going to the Sun road has been reopened. You would not be disappointed by visiting this area.
