Still planning our holiday. Can anyone tell me if Burbank (I was looking at the Ramada Inn) is a good area to stay in or not. Also are there any apartments in the Anaheim area?

Hi Vicki
I haven't been out to the Valley in a while. Will ask around to see if I can find anybody familiar with the area around the Ramada.
As far as an apartment in Anaheim, exactly how long do you plan on staying?
There are loads of hotels/motels around Disneyland.

I've been looking at accommodation today and will book one of the many hotel/motel around Disneyland which seem quite reasonable. I'm just looking at accommodation around Monterey/San Francisco at the moment and also Yosemite and Death Valley - which I think will be the most expensive places to stay. With our exchange rate at the moment (which unfortunately is still going down but who knows what it will be when we go) everything costs us 50% more.
Have you ever been to Mrs Winchester's Mystery House and, if so, is that worth a look?
Thanks for your help - Vicki
Also, I know you said you stay outside Yosemite where there are supermarkets - whereabouts do you stay and how far into the park?
When we go up to Yosemite we stay in Oakhurst, Cal. Last time we stayed at the Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn (around 15 miles from south entrance. http://www.nonrev.net/groupee/forums?a=tpc...99&m=6846063883
Vicki drop a line to Carl in the non-rev correspondent San Francisco thread, he might be able to help you with Carmel/Monterey hotel suggestions. Hopefully he'll also be able to help you with info on Winchester House, unfortunately I've never made it there.
I do want to suggest taking the 17-Mile Drive (Monterey). One of the most beautiful routes I've even taken. There is a fee ($8-I think) but the views are the ones you see on the California postcards.

My friend just got back to me. He wouldn't recommend the Ramada; thought the Holiday Inn-Burbank-Media Center a much, much better choice.
BTW, Universal Studios has extened their "Buy one get one free" ticket offer to Sept. 21. Will keep you posted

Thanks. We have just booked our accommodation in Hollywood. Everything seems to be gradually getting organised and booked. We've decided to get a Universal City Pass (the buy one get one free offer still expires just before we get there) so we'll have a few tours and museums to look at with that.
