I work for CO and we are planning first trip to Hawaii and plan to visit LIH and OGG. We will be using passes to travel between HNL-LIH, LIH-OGG, and OGG-HNL. We can use passes on HA and AQ and I was wondering if anyone had any advice as far as listing and if one airline treats non-revs better than others. I found some 3-4 year old posts knocking HA, but that was awhile ago.
Also, if anyone knows the AQ dress code, please let me know. Thanks. Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

I go to Hawaii often and have non-rev on both airlines. I genrally choose the airline that has the most flights and times that I want to go.

Both airlines have a relaxed dress code (I wore jeans and long pants on all my flights as i was a little afraid to wear shorts)

One note: unless they have changed within the past year, the paying passengers can fly standby and go on an earlier flight without a fee so sometimes the desired flight maynot be available. I have been lucky in that I have made my fligt each time.

    Have fun in Hawaii

Hi Jeff, I am new to the forum but I live on Maui and my hubby works for AQ. You cannot list for interisland flights unless you are an AQ employee and you can list online for an e ticket. You pretty much just have to show up. As far as dress code, interisland flights you can wear "walking shorts" or jeans and t-shirts but never flip flops or as we call them here rubbah slippahs. You cannot wear shorts on flights to the mainland and you also must always wear collared shirts. Hope this helps, Jessica

Hi. Thanks for the response. We actually already took our trip to Hawaii last month. We had a great time, especially in Maui. A funny story is that in Kauai we attended the Smith Family Luau and one of the hosts of the luau was also our gate agent for the Island Air flight we took to OGG the next day. We flew inter-island on AQ, HA, and WP with no problems. Everyone was very nice. My only complaint is that none of the airline employees we encountered was aware that employees of U.S. based carriers are exempt from being selectees, so they wouldn't do anything to exempt us and we had to go through the selectee process on every leg.
