Hi, I was just hired by UA and I'm wondering about non-reving on Star Alliance. If anyone out there has a nice little summary of the privileges
please do inform. I am specifically interested in if and how long into my employment I can use the other airlines and if I have to pay to use them.

    Thanks

You should look over united's intranet site and become very familiar with it. There is a lot of important stuff there, such as your work schedule and the ability to list yourself on United flights as an NRSA. Click on the "travel" button and you can find detailed information on all of United's agreements with other airlines.

    www.united.intranet.ual.com

Nothing in life is free, including flying on other airlines.

Thanks for the reply, Drewmeister, but the link does not work. Do I need access privileges to get to it?

Try removing the "www" and it should work. Btw most of the Star Alliance will allow UA employees to non-rev only after 6 months of employment, some a year. And yes, you always will have to pay something, even flying on United unless you go BP10 on a domestic flight. Look through our interline agreements for the ones with ZED agreements, those by far will be the cheapest.
