I was approved for a week off but had to cancel part of it because we were so short handed I just didn't see a way to take that long. I still wanted to do something special for the kids. A coworker of mine used to take her son to Disney World on day trips from Atlanta so since none of us had ever been, I decided to give it a try. Since we lived on opposite sides of the metro area, I got us a good interline deal at the Wellesley Inns & Suites next to the Atlanta Airport for the night before. I found a good rate of fifty something dollars on the Delta Intranet. We checked in early and swam in the pool the day before. We got up early to go and get on the first flight from Atlanta to Orlando. I had not had much time for planning but did get a good car rental rate via The Nonrev Network car rental service. The only problem was that I did not check to make sure it was an airport location so we had to shuttle to the car rental from the airport. That just took too much precious time from a day-trip. So make sure that if you try this, you get a car that you can pick up at the airport. By the time we road our first ride - Space Mountain, it was time for lunch. I wasn't gouged quite as bad as I had anticipated for our chili dogs and cokes. After that we got the hang of the express line system but it was still so crowded that we only got in 3-4 more rides before we had to head out to return the car and get back to that airport. We left in time to eat dinner on the way back to returning the car. Oh, I had gotten the one day tickets by calling Disney directly. That did save a little time because they had them waiting for us at will-call so we did not have to wait in the ticket line.

It was quick and tiring but the kids still enjoyed it and were glad they got to go. They even enjoyed just swimming at the hotel the day before. They are 9 and 12 and probably would have enjoyed the Magic Kingdom more if I had gotten them there a few years earlier but as least now we can all say we've been and if I get the back down there, I'll try to stay for a few days and ensure that we get to Epcot.

Let me know if you have any questions.

That's pretty cool to take a day trip like that.

I work at MDT which has 5 flights to ATL/day. To do a daytrip I have to connect, so that really cuts options. I spent about 3 hours in downtown chicago 2 weeks ago, and I'm going to lunch with a buddy in orlando(hopefully) tuesday. It's just difficult to do a day trip when you've gotta do 4 segments in that day. But Business-Elite looks open so far for tuesday, that'd be worth a trip in itself.

So what's your job in ATL?
