Hi,
I know it is still a long way off but I want to find out if getting a ZED fare from LAX to MIAMI around 6th, 7th, 8th January would be relatively easy or is that time of year a peak time???
Thanks

Now I don't work or travel this route and granted winter is pretty high season to MIA but I think most of the traffic is probably from the NE. I wouldn't think it would be as heavy from LAX unless there's a lot of Caribbean and South America connecting traffic. Also thinking that you should just be late enough to miss the bulk of the holiday traffic.
Hopefully someone who really travels or works the route will chime in.
Did you have a particular carrier in mind?

Thanks Chris,
American airlines (as they are "One World" and go from the same terminal as Qantas fly into LAX) would be good but any carrier that gives a ZED fare would be fine!
Vicki,
From what I can see American are the only carrier to fly that route so that may narrow your choices
Fortunately the OneWorld agreement comes into play and will give you some priority over non-OneWorld staff
Considering students do not head back to school in Florida and in the west until January 7, you might find it very difficult to nonrev on those dates. Anytime school is not in session is difficult to nonrev. If you can travel a couple of days later, your chances will improve significantly. You might want to check with AA now to see if their bookings are already high. I don't know of another ZED carrier who flies this route that won't give you a tour of the U.S. in the process!

Not sure, if your airline has an agreement with mine, but I would think another possibility to travel on would be US Airways on a Zed fare.

Thanks for your replies. Will be flying over to the US on Qantas so can fly to LA, San Fran or NY......am thinking I might need to buy a ticket to make sure will be able to get to Miami??
Don't forget about FLL - only 20 minutes north of Miami, and sometimes fares that are much lower. DL has a nonstop daily between LAX and FLL, and many of the low cost carriers fly into FLL rather than MIA (Southwest, JetBlue, AirTran...) May be worth looking into.
Thanks, I'll have a look at flights into FLL - anyways good to have lots of options!Don't forget about FLL - only 20 minutes north of Miami, and sometimes fares that are much lower.
