Have fun, I went to Chicago for a few hours in August. MDW had seats, ORD was a big mess. I got lucky to get home because revenue standbys were coming over to MDW from ORD and bumping me.[/b]

See, that's my biggest concern as I'll be playing with getting home in time for work (5PM) - Probably do the MDW to DTW or MSP - Just watching the flights and the weather before I make the commitment to jump!

Hmmm, a day trip with connections and you have to make it back to work the following evening---Horsefeathers you certainly like walking the highwire without a net
Hotels near the Cadillac Theater--The Allegro is right down the street, but expensive, (my sister did manage to finagle a good internet rate there once). The Palmer House and Congress hotels are further south of the theater, but are within walking distance. Actually, now that I think of it, a hotel within walking distance of the theater isn't necesary, as Chicago has excellent bus and rail service.
You might want to drop Randy (Chicago Correspondent) a line, he'll be able to give you more hotel alternatives.

Rethunk me original plans to do it in about 2 weeks when my shift changes to tuesday wensday off instead - this way I'll have my net!

good call. Another option for a net is to fill out a day swap with someone. Have them hold on to it. If you get back in time, great, go to work. If it looks bad, give them a call, they go to work, turn in the swap and work for you, and you pay them back on your next day off.

As far as a hotel. Perhaps you fly into ORD or MDW, get a CTA day pass(all trains, busses, subways) see the show, then ride back to a hotel that has a free shuttle to the airport. Then you only have to buy transportation for 1 day. Pretty cheap too, I think mine was 5 bucks or so.
