I was thinking I should surprise her with a trip this weekend for her birthday. I can only get Saturday off work and thus, was looking to do a day trip. I was planning on getting the first flight out, and the red-eye back.[/b]
What a nice surprise.
First, I'm thinking a cross-country day trip may be great for 20-somethings, but I doubt your mom will find 7+ hour travel times-each way as exciting. So my suggestion is to limit yourself to maybe 4+ hour flight time, any more and you run the risk of spending more time at the airport and in the air, than at your destination; and the point of the day trip is the trip not the flight.....riiiiiight! ) Soooo with your criteria in mind, I'm going "off the board" and suggest Chicago. Chicago has great transportation, great restaurants (lunch ), museums, shopping and a lakefront.
But C19, no matter where you go, your mom will have a great day, what will mean the most is that you planned the day. So have a great time and don't forget her rose.
