I'm planning on getting a ZED with Hawaiian some time in late February. I'd like to find out generally how full the loads might be during that time.

Also I need to get a good deal on a resort/hotel. Does anyone have a good place where they go to find some really good airline employee deals?

I've never flown non rev with another carrier before, so any advice anyone has would be helpful as well.

    Thanks.

When looking for hotels in HI, I would recommend also looking thru www.vrbo.com. Some of the private vacation rentals can be cheaper than some of the best airline employee rates at most hawaiian hotels. I just rented a guest house near Kona for $75 per night. It's worth a shot. I never was able to find a hawaiian hotel offering a great airline rate.

Outrigger offers some great "Airline Employee Rates" for Outrigger and Ohana properties in Hawaii. Check them out at Outrigger.com and select the Airline Employee Rate in the reservation system. (Don't forget to bring your employee ID, they do check!)

Flying Hawaiian anytime of year can be iffy. Generally, they run very high load factors. What city were you planning on departing from? What are your backup carrier options?

I'll check out outrigger.com for sure, as well as vrbo.

As for the departure city, I'm not really limited by a departure city. I can get to LAX, SFO, SEA, and LAS no problem out of MDW on Southwest. The only tricky part is that I'm going to have a member of our party rendezvous with us and she's flying from PDX. My plan is to fly her Southwest to the departure city and we'll all meet up there before we leave for Hawaii.

Out of those 4 cities, which one has the most flights/best options?

Is February a particularly heavy time of year to be going to Hawaii?

Cross off Las Vegas from your list right now. Very limited flight options and very full flights. Los Angeles has the most flights to Honolulu. United and American have the most departures out of LAX to HNL. Hawaiian has two daily departures to HNL.

All things being equal, I'd probably try LAX. But, make sure to get backup passes. DO NOT limit yourself to just one airline...or one city routing for that matter. If I were you, get round trip passes on Hawaiian, American, and United. And, buy some extra one-way passes from HNL as backups to get back to the mainland. You can always refund the passes you don't use. But, there is no Southwest ticket counter in the islands to help you if you get in a bind.
