Hello,
I am new to this site so sorry if this question has already been answered. I am a horizon air employee and i have passes to fly to toyko on NW.
My question is.... My routing is sea-nrt. I want to fly out of Portland instead. keep in mind it is the same price from portland or seatte. Will the gate agent accept my ticket with the sea routing?
my coworkers say they will and they have done it. I am just trying to make sure.

Does NWA fly from Portland to NRT? I never heard of it. If they did, I don't see why not, same ZED fare probably, most likely. Why don't you call the NWA toll free number 800-225-2525. That's the number you are supposed to call to list yourself. Ask them. I used NWA many times going to NRT but not in the last 5 years. Two years ago I couldn't get out to NRT from MNL. First time I ever ran into load problems with NWA out of MNL. I ended up taking Continental via the milk run. MNL-GUM barely HNL-and barely IAH. But we made it. Got the last two seat next to the crappers out of HNL. Didn't cost me a dime. Took a couple of months to get my NWA tickets refunded though.

They do, it's NW5 PDXNRT. I think it may vary a bit by each agent you run into at NW, whether they'll be ok accepting the different routing even though same price. Keep in mind though that this flight will switch to a DL operated route by the beginning of the summer, so you'll definitely have to fly out of SEA to use the NW service charge passes.... I'm not sure when you're going.

Yes, it will be a DL 767-300 in the summer but still an NW flight number.
When the DL aircraft is on it, your passes will not work for it.
Confusing? You should work here! We are still up in the air about the whole process.

Some of the new NWA 767 routes operated by Delta still allow for Northwest pass travel, for instance MSP-CDG, which just started April 1st.

Glad you made it. The cross-fleeted flights (not the same as code-shared) primarily go by the rules of the marketed carrier. Even after June 1, even though PDX-NRT is a DL equipment, most rules, including nonrev listing, priority, etc. will be as NW. Your NW pass would still work on this DL plane. It's also true that being "rolled over" to a different routing, even departure city, can be done, but could depend upon the particular agent at the counter. The 1-800 number above is a res number for listing and most agents may not be able to answer your type of question; they'd have to call their support. The travel desk or the airport agent would be more knowledgable. Chew some betel nut for me!

Ninoy Aquino Airport can be a rough place to be stuck. What a louzy airport. Toilets there don't even flush, no running water the last time I was there. Packed to the rafters. In fact, that airport is a main reason I hate going to Manila.

I read somewhere else on the site that DL-NW pass trvel would get sorted out aroud May or so...

I'm a Pinnacle parent and know that NW pass travel will be in flux the next half-year or so. Any idea whether pass travel on domestic NW flts (like BDL-MSP) will be handled as they are now, in May, when want to visit our son?

hey HAL!! we DL's are waiting for May, too!! We've gone back to the old paper scrub passes at some stations like AMS and still using them for employee travel NCE and Providenciales (never understood that one!) Part of the growing pains. Evene commuting is tougher with "carrier du jour" changing from Comair to Pinnacle or Mesaba or Freedom...you get the picture. Then there's the downsizing of routes AND downsizing aircraft day of flt!! ACK!
I just want to get to Hong Kong without sitting in steerage!
I'm guessing if they don't hit the May timeline it won't be much later, tho. I don't envy anyone who has to deal with major systems changes! Glad to see your flights went well to get home from France BTW (maybe I already mentioned that!?)
