Pretty neat little island off the beaches of REVERE MA. Typical New England look. Beautiful during Indian Summer especially. But I took a drive there the other day, middle of April, and a raw cold 40 degree windy and rainy day. The trees were in transition, but not all of the trees, many of which remain bare still. Boston has various suburban towns all around such as Chelsea, Winthrop, East Boston, North End, Saugus, Medford, Sommerville, Revere Beach, Charlestown to name a few. NAHANT island is very nautical, with ocean waves pounding the rocks on the coast. Everywhere you drive on the island you can see the ocean. It has a causeway leading up to Nahant and from that side, you can see the beaches of Revere and Nahant. Nahant beach further north of Revere is different. Higher class of residents you might say. But Revere Beach has KELLY'S. It's been around for years, and they serve the best fried clams on the East Coast. In fact, its the only place you can get clams with the belly on them. (New England that is.) Anywhere else you get clams, its going to be only the strips without the round belly. You just don't know what your'e missing here. Nothing like a cold wind from the coast when in the middle of winter, you brave it enough to dash out of your car to buy a bag of hot fried clams and you take it back to the car and eat it right there on the beach overlooking the North Atlantic in your warm car. Nahant island on the horizon, Massachusetts bay, the BOSTON skyline at your disposal. Don't make it back to Boston often but when I do, its all about the clams at Kelly's, the roast beef, lobster rolls, clam chowder and later PIZZA in that order. A drive along the coast is also a given. Sometimes, when I have the time, a drive on up to New Hampshires beautiful rocky coastline off of RYE BEACH is something else to see. Never get tired of that. NEVAHHHH!
