    Default Cancun

Great little getaway. Yup, expensive as hell, but nonetheless, excellent weather right now, and great waves, windy breezy, blue water, just enough sunlight to get red. The hotels along KUKUKLAN blvd are quite impressive. Great resort at the Hilton Golf and Spa. Had my ritual one beer at the Hard Rock Cafe, but very unimpressed with the beer down there. The best beer I could handle there that tasted somewhat normal was PACIFICO. Modelo was horrible. The Corona tasted a bit salty to me. Lots of Gringo's down in Cancun. Don't seem to be too worried on the news of the drug related beheadings in other places like in Acapulco or Merida. First class going and first class coming. Wide open.

Did you get one of those rooms with the liquor dispensers on the wall? That made me laugh when I saw those on the web... still need to get myself to Cancun

I didn't see a liquor dispenser on any wall as you mention, however, it did have a refrigerator full of canned beers with a key, of which I don't buy into those ever unless the beers are reasonable. I usually buy the beers locally and stuff them in the refrigerator, or just get ice and use the trash bucket. It works fine.

Oh, one thing about CORONA. If you can score the big bottle one. It looks like a fat bottle, kind of like the quarts they sell at the gas station sometimes, but these are a little larger. The FAMILIAR bottle, which I take it means for family use, for sharing like a large bottle of wine. That's the best one. I got mine at walmart in Cancun. This bottle one taste much better than the Corona Extra too. Just a much better flavor and very local, it looks very dark bottle keeping out the light. I downed one the night before I left, it was very good.

we stayed in one of AI's that had the dispenser--what a hoot!! One litre bottles of gin, vodka, rum and tequila. you could ask the bar staff to switch them to your choice--scotch or bourbon or...
(I think that was the Moon Palace--our first AI)
As long I can get bubbly--wine, not beer--I'm a happy girl!!
I had a Modelo at the airport (way $$$ and too warm) ICK--it lasted until we got to a local bodega on the way to hotel...

We were trying to ask for the breakfast plan, but for what it would cost, it was better to buy the breakfast at 20 bucks each and fare cheaper by ten bucks for paying upgrade breakfast plan room. We walmarted it for having sandwiches, fruits, coffee in the morning, far cheaper and to be honest, who really wants to get stuffed on breakfast buffet that early in the morning? I was totally impressed with the turkey at the walmart deli down there, far better tasting than ours here in the states. Maybe is because it was just different. I bought some bread that had hints of chili on it. It was kind of addictive. I paid about 32 bucks for food that lasted us for the three days there on breakfast and late night snacking. We ate in the afternoon in restaurants away from the hotel. Smart way to do it if you go to a hotel, not AI, don't want to pay high prices, load up on walmart in cancun, and take cab back to hotel. You can buy coolers and hotel has free ice. This may sound like I'm cheap however, I think its smart and I bet alot of people going to cancun do the same. Old and young alike.

I don't know what' up with that. I never price tickets since I never have to worry about that. 110 dollars per person from where? IAH? ONE WAY OR RT??? If last year ticket prices were 53 dollars, my best estimate for the disparity is the rising FUEL PRICES of course. They've been kind of creeping up lately haven't they?
