Imagine that. A noreaster in October??? Wierd enough to get snow that early, never mind in that magnitude. Last time it snowed in the DC area that early was like in 1979. That one came on October 10. Even earlier, but not as much.
I was watching some of the Saturday college football games. Snowing like mad in Byrd field at College Park Maryland as the Terrapins took on the War Eagles of Boston. They had to have extra people wiping down the wet soggy footballs. The kickers couldn't get a good kick off the ball being so soaked and cold. They brought 24 footballs to that game. It was very inclament weather playing, at times a white out. Lots of mistakes, missed catches, missed field goals.
The forecasters all excited with this strange event in October, a noreaster with lots of snow accumulation, but noone was smiling down in the field or on the sidelines. It was miserably cold and snowy, wet. It was also the ACC's first snowgame in October.
There were other snow games like up in Beaver stadium in Penn State, where they took on Illinois, and RUTGERS up in New Jersey had a miserable snow game, the markers were placed on television using digitery or imaging or something so we could all see about where they were. You couldn't read the markers on the field.
Anybody out there got any snowtober stories to tell?
Bring it on.
