    Hey Michiganders (Michiganites?) or those in the know,

    Why do Red Wing fans throw octopi on the ice during a hockey game?

    My brother who lives in the Detroit area said that the octopus thrown on the ice are symbols of the 8 games that were originally needed to win the Stanley Cup.
