    Default The Roadhouse Manila Bay

"Uh keep your eyes on the road your hands behind the wheel" What a place, situated at the SM MALL OF ASIA in Manila, man, this place has grown tenfold since the last time I was here three years ago.Went to a bar called The Roadhouse, Manila Bay. When I tried to explain what roadhouse music was to my wife's family all I could think about saying to them was that it was a bar that played rowdy blues music with thomping beats and that after a few beers and feeling good, a good fight was in order where beer bottles fly around the bar and bodies crashing over tables over the "Feeling real good" biker types in leater jackets all liquored up kind of dives you see around Texas highways and California highways like in the movies or something. How do you describe a good roadhouse? Of course, then you have a live band. This live band had to be local Filipinos and they sounded like they came from a roadhouse upbringing. Man its crazy. Great place to visit. Outside of the bar, its situated on the banks of the Manila Bay, where thousands of people are gathered, you would think its like a rock concert. Fully loaded with huge population, everywhere you go, there is garantuan traffic and people walking around. If you hate crowds like I do, stay away from Manlia. Its crazy. The roadhouse offered some kind of sanctuary to be indoors and away from lots of people. Then, outside is a ferris wheel on steroids. Don't know where they make thse things but there are many all over Manila and in Tagay Tay area. I couldn't find any takers to go up with me, so I was outnumbered and didn't do it. Maybe I'll do it tonight. So here I am in my hotel, having a San Miguel Pilsen beer, the old fashoioned bottle, now things have changed since I first came to P.I. in 1995. This place is getting like NYC on steroids. Economy is getting better too. Getting to actually get some kind of middle class. Time to finish beer and do a stogie. I'm out!

I'm surprised on the lack of responses to this topic I wrote of while in Philippines. It was a very neat place, and excellent. It's like a Hard Rock Cafe for Roadhouse style of bar. Maybe if you browse through this web site, you might enjoy this type of place. Click on the top ROADHOUSE REKORDS and see the video. Excellent band and tunes.

This place was my favorite place to eat while in Philippines. The best grilled seafood you could ask for. Fish, Tuna, Wahoo, Bangus, grilled squid, HALO HALO, man, just check out the menu. Everything there was excellent. Here is their web site.

It's cool being back working on planes again. After flying them around Asia and WestPac, I get to work on them. It's a privelege. Like today, I was actually comparing Econo class with regular seats. Yes, I guess its nice to have the extra leg room and when the guy in front of you pushes his seat back, it may make the difference weather you get smacked inthe face with the tray table or not.

I've seen tall dudes really suffer on those long trips too. One guy had to be around 6 foot 3 and he was in the Army, I saw him standing by the door slides most of the trip and I think the flight attendants really felt sorry for him and didn't tell him to sit down or anything.
