AMT Day
Aviation Maintenance Technician Day (May 24) honors the professional men and women who ensure the safety and security of our airborne aviation infrastructure, and recognizes the life and memory of Charles E. Taylor, the man who build and maintained the engine that was used to power the Wright Flyer.
The Wright Brothers made a glider, but Charles Taylor made the glider an airplane.
You might be an Aircraft Mechanic if.......
You've ever slept on the concrete under a wing.
You know what skydrol tastes like.
You wash your hands before you go to the restroom.
You have a better bench-stock in the pockets of your uniform than the supply system.
You can sleep anywhere, anytime, but as soon as the engines shut down you are wide awake.
Wondered where they keep finding the idiots that keep making up stupid rules.
You've used a wheel chock as a battering ram.
You ever wished the pilot would say "great airplane".
You have "scuba dived" a lav tank to remove everything under the sun.
You have told someone that you are an aircraft mechanic only to have them say, "But not on the engines....right?"
Your tool box at home has wheels.
You have little yellow ear plugs all over your house.
You’ve been crouched down fixing a seat only to glance up and see pax boarding the aircraft.
You can never watch a movie or TV show with an airplane without picking apart the inconsistencies.
And finally,
you might be an airline mechanic if you have a mini Maglite, a Leatherman on your belt, a toolbox with stickers and talk enthusiastically about aviation.
*SALUTE*
BTW, Charles Taylor was also the first non-rev.
