    Default Allegiant Airlines

I noticed a whole fleet of MD's of Allegiant Airlines in Las Vegas. With the amount of planes from Allegiant I saw there, I assumed they come from Las Vegas or headquartered there. According to magazine "US AIRLINES" they are. The magazine has good reporting of the majors, the commuters, startups and the cargo planes. Allegiant tends to target second tier customers that are more like going for resorts in packages with car rentals and hotels, to destinations where there are resorts, and some are seasonal such as in Myrtle Beach and they do charters for NFL and other pro-sport teams. To my surprise, the fleet of the MD's I was viewing in Las Vegas are not MD-80's though they look very similar, but rather more like MD-88's. US AIRLINES magazine I noticed is quite informative and gives excellent intelligence about the carriers, and what kind of fleets they operate where they are headquartered, what their annual revenue was on various dates, how many employees work for them ect......

Wikipedia is also awesome for stuff like that. McCarran International Airport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia has the destinations served by LAS (sometimes includes direct, but not nonstop flights) and check out the destinations and fleet section here: Allegiant Air - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have several friends working for Allegiant. Several came from National Airlines (not the original National) when they shut down after 9/11. They all seem pretty happy there. Apparently Allegiant doesn't fly a couple days out of the week, depending on the market. They have a mixed fleet of the Maddogs, from the -82 on up. They consistently do very well as they are tied onto the casinos/package tours.

And Former Finnair 757's (HNL) as well as A319/A320. They have one of the highest traded and rated airline stocks in the world at over $90 a share.

Problem is, it's so undiluted that only 50 shares exist :-P

Update: Allegiant orders up 12 more MD's from SAS...Allegiant Air and its subsidiaries are to take 12 McDonnell Douglas (MD) aircraft from Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS). SAS, which is modernising its fleet, has now finalised the delivery times for the MD82/83/87 aircraft. It is also selling 12 spare engines to Allegiant.
