Emirates has announced it is commencing a daily service to Orlando, Florida from September 1, 2015. The route will be served by Boeing 777-200LR aircraft with eight First Class suites, 42 Business Class lie-flat beds and 216 Economy Class seats.
Emirates flight EK 219 will depart Dubai International Terminal 3 DXB at 03:50 hours local time and arrive at Orlando International Airport (MCO) Terminal B at 11.40 hours local time, a flying time of 15 hours 50 minutes. The return flight, EK 220 will depart Orlando International at 14:20 hours and arrive into Dubai at 12:30 the following day, a 14 hours 10 minutes flight.
Aditionally, Emirates Airlines is adding a second nonstop daily flight to DXB from SEA, starting July 1.
The second flight, using a Boeing 777-200LR, will complement the first flight, which started in March 2012.
Emirates is controversial among the big three American airlines, especially Delta Air Lines, because it has been using aircraft purchased partly with Ex-Im Bank loan guarantees, to compete globally with U.S.-based international carriers that don’t have the advantage of these guarantees.
In fact, Delta has stated it would fly directly to India from Seattle if it weren't for unfair competition from Mid-East airlines, including Emirates.
Flights from Seattle to Dubai are heavily used by people of Indian origin who live and work in Seattle.
Dubai acts as a hub for global flights, and many passengers from Seattle continue on to other destinations in the Middle East and South Asia.
Delta is far and away the largest international carrier at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport with nine daily flights. Delta recently made Seattle its West Coast gateway. But Emirates, with its second flight, is following close behind
