JetBlue Airways is shaking up its route network.
The New York-based airline on Thursday said it is ending service in Oakland, California, shrinking in Long Beach, California, and adding several flights, including its first service to Guatemala.
In a statement, JetBlue said it is cutting flights that are "not meeting expectations'' and "redeploying aircraft to high-value markets and routes.''
Separately Thursday, the airline quietly increased its fees for checked bags.
Which JetBlue routes are ending?
JetBlue plans to end service at Oakland International Airport on April 29. The airline has been flying between Oakland and New York, Boston and Long Beach. JetBlue will remain in San Francisco and San Jose, California, so JetBlue fans will still have flights to and from from the Bay Area.
JetBlue is also reducing some service at tiny Long Beach International Airport in southern California. In addition to the Long Beach-Oakland flights, it is eliminating flights between Long Beach and Sacramento and San Jose and reducing the number of daily flights to Las Vegas.
