Chris,

I also went to Buenos Aires and may be able to help. It is so inexpensive right now! I went 3 times in 3 months!

The American hotels are still priced high, so we stayed in the Kempinski chain.

European type hotels, very very nice for the price! Email them directly and ask if they will offer you the Argentinian rate. I am not sure if they are still offering this to DL employees or not, but it WAS 115 peso per night INCLUDING tax and breakfast! ($30USD)

That rate was only through Nov 30th, but it can hurt to email them and ask.

An Sat/Sun the BEST outdoor market is Recoleta. I recommend this market the most.

Florida (St/Ave) is shopping and more shopping.

On Sunday San Telmo has a huge market if you like antiques. There are always tango dancers on the street here.

Puerto Madero is an area along the river that used to be old warehouse space but now is loft and many many restaurants. Our favorite was a place called Happenings. Great wine list, pastas, steaks, etc. Excellent service.
We ordered 2 bottles of wine, 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, 2 bottles of water .... $23 USD. I wish I could go back every weekend.

Also, if you are a wine drinker, stop at the COTO grocery and pick some up. Cheaper than duty free.

Hope this helps a bit.
