Nice to see you too 29Palms.

Travel forums are notoroius for slow periods. Lots of questions on the front end and few reports on how everything went.
Unfortunately we're usually left to wonder how the trip went and in our case, if they even made the flights.

    Hi 29,

    Any suggestions to stimulate traffic?

Chris. Good question. I don't know what could stimulate this forum. I see the same people here responding but hardly many new non rev types. The follow up is pretty bad around here. Maybe the hard core non-rev folks prefer to keep the topics to themselves without sharing. Maybe they are poor typers and it takes too much effort for them to type. You can post a question here and it goes unanswered for a very long time. If you go to virtualtourist dot com, you will see that there are alot of people there and they can post alot of photos. It's a great set up. Maybe we can have something like that here for non-revers. I urge you to check it out. www.virtualtourist.com

That's exactly what we do have here. We'll never be as big as Virtual Tourist or Trip Advisor because we're serving a small niche. I do have some plans to make the site a lot better and to get the word out and increase participation. We do have a lot of lurkers. The posts are few when compared the the 30-70k page views we have monthly. Hopefully we'll come up with some ways to encourage people to contribute and not just come to find what they need and split.

re forum trafic. I too regret that theres not more post-trip feedback. While I'm no word-gusher, I at least try to give a little feedback (eg see my 9/11/2006 thread in Checking Loads). No that I'm retiring (in one week!), and after we come back from our Bali trip (wish us standby-luck), I'll try to put a bit more time into feedback. While I enjoy others' reports about the places they've seen, I'm always most interested in detail about the non-rev experience. If peope ARE in the post-trip writing mode, I think it would also be nice if they could include city names, not just airport codes, so we don't have to go scurrying to another site to do the lookup.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for the contributions.

Congratulations on your retirement Hal and good luck with those Bali flights. I'm really looking forward to those trip comments.
