    Default Glamping!!

    Let's Go Glamping! - Articles - Departures

So, I guess I screwed up my thread title--fixable??

My fave is 4 Rivers Lodge, Cambodia--perfect to connect with a stay in Siem Reap. I wouldn't call the Tree House Lodge any kind of camping (where's the tent?) but there are some really cool places featured here.

here's another interesting link I've saved for several years:

Will they give you a discount for staying in a tree with spiders and snakes? Free cup of cafe BRIT?

We had a treehouse in the Amazon--but it was a bit on the rustic side of luxury--this photo shows our "house" .
All in all about 60 feet up to the top level from the water (whichis usually covering the ground plants) . We did have our own mini swimming pool on the decking in the tree.

This is one very funky resort!

But it doesn't really look like a tree house from the pics I see. Looks more like on stilts, and up around tree level next to some trees. Not my idea of a tree house like one would think, actually ON a tree. To get a good tree house, you would need one hell of a big tree and the trunks would have to branch out almost evenly so that it could support some structure. I always thought it would be neat to have a bar up in a tree. Have a spiral staircase that went around the tree up to the main tree supporting the structure, and the bar had the actual tree going right through it, tables and chairs all around the tree trunk. The bar itself around the tree trunk, all a few stories high. The pics you show on the Amazon, not my kind of taste. Decoration is all wierded out. But it beats sleeping on a boat or on the ground with all kinds of things crawling around.

You can't see the trunk in the middle--it runs right up thru the deck, next to the bathroom. I think it's blocked by all the steps and stilts. I agree about the decor--it was pretty rustic and tacky, to say the least. It had great windows so we could watch the rain pouring down around us. All their treehouses were on stilts--easily replaced when they rotted.
When you open your bar, let us know! Sounds like my kind of place.

My bar would be exclusive. Strictly family and friends, not for profit. (As pictured in my mind. Only thing is I need a tree to do this kinda thing.)

Only friends, family and bears in the woods can use my tree.

And definately no sky jockies, no sky waiters, (I will accept sky waitresses only if they're a TEN) , and no spouses thereof! Global entry doesn't work in the 29palms tree bar and grill.

mrs767er, I corrected the title to match the one you have in your first post.

I love the idea of staying in a tree house. It's on my to do list if I ever have enough time off!
