What I don't understand is how they can hire FA on one side and involuntarily furlough others on the UA side. Shouldn't there be language in the contract that requires UA to furlough by seniority and offer the more senior FAs the option to bump the new hires? If this isn't in the contract (because they are not fully merged after nearly 4 years), the union really needs to step up on this. Situations like these are exactly why we have union representation.
