I don't know about United - but the industry standard was "+POSITIVE+" space for the individual and family.
But then I certainly would not like to be in his shoes as the instigator of "Flightgate" travel for the good ole
boy of the NY-NJ Port Transit Authority to CAE (Columbia SC) for whatever under the table favors offered.
This has yet to come before a Congressional Commission or other authority. The news media making hay of this.
