Just returned from a wonderful trip to Dubai. Stayed at the Ibis hotel and Sheraton Jumeirah Beach, both were great. Hotels in the city offer much better rates than those on the beach. Ibis had a free shuttle to/from airport. Beach is amazing and the water was like getting into a bath! Anyone have any questions just let me know.

    Hi,

Thanks for coming back to our forum to share with the community and offer your assistance. I'd love to hear any more details when you have a few minutes.

    Any coral reef for snorkeling?

How did you feel about safety with all the unrest in the middle east?

    Hi Chris,

What a great place. Amazing duty free upon arrival at DXB. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Stayed at the Ibis hotel the first night as we were arriving late in the evening. They have a free shuttle to/from airport and beach. Very clean modern hotel and was only $100 canadian per night. Breakfast was $12. for a buffet. Nothing to complain about. Hotel is part of the Trade center complex. The Novotel also part of this complex is very nice. Next three nights stayed at the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach, this is the last hotel on the strip. Beautiful grounds and very helpful staff. rate was $200 can. a night. No airline discount available! Breakfast very expensive $30. for coffee, juice and 3 pastry! Water is like getting into a bath, it was really hard to get out of! Weather was very hot and humid but as long as you are near the sea or a pool no problems. For anyone that likes to shop stay at a hotel closer to the city. The Sheraton has a free shuttle to the Ibn Buttera mall(think of the Aladdin resort in Vegas) only bigger. Lots of English shops. Mall of the Emirates - wow - especially Ski Dubai - now thats a sight to see. Most people living in Dubai are expats. Everyone was great. Extremely low crime rate. Only time we saw police was at an accident sight in the highway. Women can wear bathing suits on the beach as Dubai is quite liberal. Most women(tourists) are wearing t-shits/tops and shorts/skirts in and around town. Construction is mind blowing! It looks like there are more cranes in Dubai than all of North America. These building are beautiful. Not just square boxes. I don't believe there is much snorkeling, but the water would be perfect. I never felt uncomfortable at any time. A perfect place to visit.
