Non-Revving from Dubai to US
Hi- does anybody here know how hard it would be to non-rev in May home from Dubai to anywhere in the US (preferably LAX) We are going on a cruise that ends in Dubai. we will stay a couple of days in Dubai and then head home. I know Delta flies there and so of course does Emiraites, I know that there are several European carriers as well as some asian carriers. does anybody have any suggestions for one over the other?

I visited DUbai back in Nov of 09, I flew the eastbound portion of the journey nonstop out of SFO on EK nonstop (flight was wide open). On the return I flew on KLM via AMS and connected on to SEA on DL. The KLM flight was wide open so our seats were released at the ticket counter about 3 hours to departure.
That being said May is not high season in Dubai so you should not have a problem going through Europe (the nonstops to the US ar ea bit trickier)
Keep in mind- UAL flights to IAD usually go out weight restricted. DL's flight to ATL is quite popular with non-revs and usually has high load factors.

chepos is right about DL being popular w/nonrevs since CAI and AMM are out of service

EK has nonstop to SEA
Does anyone know if EK upgrades nonrevs?
our DL agreement says EK does not upgrade. we did JNB/DXB and even when we asked, told coach only. It was a horrible flight--worst OAL nonrev experience. Good luck. BTW, DL does not upgrade either.

Sorry for the length of time for me to reply. I found that EK does NOT upgrade, but I bought boxes of biscotti for the crew and they treated me like royalty! So, bribing sometimes does help!!
