Just an update for everyone-- I decided to take NW LGA-DTW-NRT. Excellent flights. The LGADTW segment was pretty tight, and it was snowing pretty hard; there was probably an inch or two of fluffy snow on the ground when I (somehow) managed to make it to the airport. I hoped for the best but really expected the worst, as I know how LGA can fall apart when the wind just blows in the wrong direction. Luckily, visibility was good and we only had a minor de-icing delay since it was a RON aircraft. Sat in 6E I believe; I'm not exactly sure if that was the seat, but it's the aisle in coach with no seat in front of it. Score!

Once I got to DTW, I was amazed at what an easy airport it was. Great terminal, great employees, etc. Got on the DTWNRT leg without a hitch, sat in 80J in WBC on the upper deck. Now, that was amazing and definitely not something I expected. It was so nice of them to upgrade me, and made the 13 hour flight seem like it went by in the blink of an eye. Great service all around.

Kudos to NW, and thanks for everything!! I'm typing this in my hotel in Tokyo, so I can only hope that the return segment is just as easy!
