This is a great post. What Love about aviation is...everything. Since I was very young and got to go up to the flight deck on a 747 while in the air (Something that doesn't happen today). I have been fascinated with flight. I love going to the airport, being at the airport. Seeing new airports. Being up at FL410 and knowing how protected you are from the outside world where the temperature and lack of oxygen would kill you in a few seconds.

I really like Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). At night the blue lights on the terminal all flash at once. And the architecture inside is stunning. One note from before that really makes an airport for me is smoking rooms. I know Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) has them and after 14 1/2 hours without one, these rooms are great for us smokers.

Meeting new people in airports is always a treat for me. And meeting people from other countries and sharing what diffrences our cultures have amazes me.

I thank God for the gift of flight.

If wish I had the time to just take a random trip to wherever. Like going to the airport looking at the departure board and picking a destination. That would be amazing.

A far away place is only far when you are not there. (Think about that one.) But SKIPPER. Yes, I ran into those SMOKING rooms in NRT and in MNL. I had a few hours to kill in NRT, so I did pop into one of those rooms with the sliding glass doors, and killed some time. I conversed with a couple of GI's from Korea in transit, and I spoke to a guy that was Japanese living in Virginia, going to school there. I told him I first transitted through NRT back in 88 or so, and he said that was the year he was born.
I have flown in the cockpit several times due to work and jumpseating. Nothing like taking off on a 757 up front in the cockpit, feels like a rocket. Once you get airborne, you look down in a few seconds and you're way up there. I guess above all that in the travels, what I like best is the solitude of traveling alone sometimes in the airport. My mind wonders off and I embrace the world I am in to myself. I like to get a cup of coffee in a MSP airport sandwich shop while listening to Rob Thomas and the Streetcorner Symphony play over the audio speakers. My feet tapping away as I look out the window at all the airplanes lined up ready to go somewhere. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaoyodNJFyk) One time I watched TROY POLAMALO rob the SAINTS of a touchdown pass while eating Chicago style pizza in a New York airport. (Lets see if anyone gets this one...)
I discovered something pretty neat the other day I flew to HNL, they had a NONREV list posted on a monitor instead of on a sheet of paper. Yes, when there is no stress, flights are looking good, time is not a factor, alot of vacation days to spend, life is very good as a nonrever.

What you mean by that? AA and DL have done that for a while haven't they? And WN have moved their standby list to CS2 which eliminates paper standby lists - but they don't have any monitors to show it on!

Just like that. Before, they seemed to print the standby list and tape it on to the side of the work station, but this time, they had the nonrev listed on a monitor on the ceiling where we sit and wait to be called. A little different this time. I don't know if all stations did away with printing out the list or not.

Yeah AA has had gate monitors showing the upgrade and standby lists for quite a while now. No more hovering near the counter listening for your name, no more "can you tell me where I am on the list?"
and no more " oh I'm so sorry, I competely forgot about you." - it's great!

No wonder you don't like Chicago style pizza, you had New Yorkers making it, in New York. There is no Chicago style pizza in NYC, or in LA for that matter. If you want true Chicago pizza, you've got to get it from Chicago - personally I think it's the water.

You missed the joke migflanker. I guess you don't watch NFL network. You want the NFL, "GO TO THE NFL"....I never had a Chicago pizza in New York. This was all about an NFL commercial
