no good reason other than we've never been and I can buy an auction stay at the Conrad for peanuts--so, who's been to Singapore and how should we go using DL and zeds?
    How would you do it?
How long do we want to stay? (Conrad is only 2 nights)
Would you tie it into another major stop?--Hong Kong? (Boss has never been)
Thinking of end Sept? Any major holiday obstacles?
    Who's got the creative ideas?

Wow, we are thinking of going to SIN later this year also.
I thought about doing the DL DTW-HKG nonstop and then Zed on CX to SIN. We have been to HKG and love it.
My wife has been to SIN and says it is a perfect 2 day trip and you really do not need more than that.

I've been and loved it. I flew a courier trip (pos space for $300 for ferrying DHL package on a comm'l airline). I flew on JAL to NRT and then to SIN (I know this is not what you asked, but you could prob do the same on DL and then NW to SIN). I arrived in SIN at night (I think) and crashed until morning and then had two days. The food stalls are great, sort of food courts in the malls, which are fabulous, they were in the basement of the malls. I mainly shopped and hung out in SIN. Not much sightseeing.

I had a drink and shopped at the Raffles Hotel which is worth seeing for the history and bought some posters which I had framed and are fabulous. There is/was a Tiffany's in the Raffles Hotel.

I went to Thailand (Phuket) and Malaysia (KL and Langkawii) which were fabulous, on the same trip and then flew out of SIN. I was only gone a week, but it was great. The Cameroon (sp.) Highlands looked fabulous as well, and I don't think is too far from SIN. I took the train.

The flights inter Asia were dirt cheap and I was able to buy Biz class seats for about $50 each leg. Short hops to KL and Phuket. Phuket was trains, planes and automobiles and ferries, but it was beautiful. I stayed at the Detai in the rainforest.

good help and new ideas--thanks!! I see another enquiry from new member Mberto
    Thinking about:
combining KL and SIN (2 nights each) accessing from either HKG (via NRT/wherever) or Beijing (just because it's there and they have an auction for the Kempinski) for 4 nights.
I've been to Guangzhou via HKG, so I know I have to do the visa thing for PEK
    decisions....

My wife is not a big shopper but she did do the night safari and liked it.
    She loved the food also!
She went to the Raffles but she does not drink so no Sling for her...

We will also combine SIN with another place and are thinking KUL because it is so close but CGK and BKK are options also.
I wouldn't mind going to Siem Reap or Bandar Seri Begawan though also....
    We shall see...
Let us know what you decide on!!

My wife and I were there last April. We flew SA on United from SFO to Narita, Narita to SIN. It is a long, long, day, factoring in we started in SAN.

2 days should be fine. We spent time in Malaysia, non-revving on Malaysian Air. It was problem free. No hassles at all.

    Mrs767,

It really depends on what you want to see and what you like to do. I grew up in Singapore and lived in Kuala Lumpur. Singapore is compact and you can see most things in 2 days. KUL is quite spread out and traffic jam will take up a fair bit of your time. Still it depends on what you want to see. If you stay in the City, most can be done in 2 days.

End of of Sep might be a bad timing

The day following Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival 23 September Thursday
    National Day 1 October Friday

Oct 1 is China national day and the Chinese do travel a lot these days as they are pretty affluent ( my recent trip back to hong kong during chinese new year holiday was not filled with HK resident but Chinese on holidays). I would expect a lot of them to be travelling between 23 and up to oct 10. my advise is either end your trip before 22 sep or start it after oct 10
