Cool From Sydney to Rockhampton (AU), what carriers to use?

We will be flying into Sydney and then getting up to Rockhampton (I am sure via Brisbane) , has anyone out there done this route? If so, what airline did you use? Thanks in advance!!

According to wiki, Virgin Blue has nonstop service from Sydney. Not sure if that's a daily flight or anything, but it might be worth looking into. Otherwise, Qantas and Tiger Airways both go through Brisbane.

Hey B737Capt, the only airline doing SYD-Rockhampton direct is virgin blue, they also fly that route from BNE.

    Other options are:
Tiger Airways via MEL or BNE (cheap cheap airline... Welcome To Tiger Airways)
    Qantas via BNE

I'm gonna assume you work at WN cause of another post you made... Y'all just recently got an agreement with QF, so maybe their ZEDs would be worth a go? Otherwise tiger will most likely be cheap for confirmed seats.

A friend at WN won 2 x QF LAXSYD rtn tax only passes at the chili cookoff that he might be interested to trade... let me know if interested

Hello Nick, thank you for the valuable information. I knew about Virgin but I never heard of Tiger...we will definitely check them out! Yes, I do work for WN. Is your friend thinking of selling those QF passes or trading them otherwise? We were thinking of going on UA (since I can jumpseat for nothing) and then getting UA zed fares for my wife and daughter, but if your friend wants to get rid of those QF passes we would definitely consider it. Please let me know. You can communicate with us via this email luvb737@cox. net directly. Thanks again for the info. Much appreciated.

He would prob be interested in a trade... I emailed him with your details, he might mail you unless he traded already. Not sure of your base, but he works at HDQ.

There used to be a great site www.swatrade.com where people would trade greens (old) for reds, oal passes for greens/reds etc. Shame it has gone now!

UA is good for you with the CASS thing... I assume same deal on DL then? Your wife might not have the best time in coach on UA as they don't have PTVs!!! (unless you get upgraded... dunno chances on UA). DL is good and has PTVs in all classes, and there is always that chance they will clear you into biz instead of coach. QF has PTVs, but you can't jumpseat and you will be coach only.

jumpseating on LAX-SYD? I think I'd rather be stuck in the airport!

Nick, thanks again. UA has always been very good to us, DL as well. We've never had any problems with the jumpseat/nonrev with either one of them, so we try to always fly a domestic carrier overseas (AA,DL or UA) and avoid international ones, that's why QF was not going to be our choice. We've flown international carriers many times, and even though they've treated us nicely, they never upgrade you. Nonetheless, if your friend still has those passes we may consider QF. Thank you for forwarding our info to him. I am based in PHX, BTW. Have a good weekend.
