Thanks for the response. I actually was thinking of going to Guangzhou, oh well

I do plan to go to an Electronic fair in Hong Kong while I am there, in Wan Chai.
I will be staying across the harbor in TSIM SHA TSUI.

I imagine I will take the MTR somehow to get back and forth, do you have a website that will give me that info?

I searched and found a few websites that discusses the mass transit system but nothing concrete.
I will also call the hotel for other options.

Do you have any recommendations for reasonable price sushi?

I will only have 3 full days in Hong Kong and it is a solo trip - wife and maybe the kids (all over 17 years old) next time.
So I will be able to run around quite a bit..I like all aspects of countries I visit so anything you recommend I will try to check it out.

I must tell you though, I do watch my pennies

Sorry to be "all over the place, but I am a little excited!

    You should be!!
Search for Ding Ding trams--on and off for 25 cents each time--I'm sure you can find sushi many places but while I love it, I had more to eat in HKG than japanese food.
MTR is great--get the Octopus card (as mentioned above) You can use it for mass transit if you get it in combo from airport. Take a serious look at HKG tripadvisor--it is one of the BEST travel forums I have ever consulted/trusted.
When you're done w/Octopus, get you $ back less small deposit.
    Use ATM's for exchange.
Once I get settled, I' can be a cheapskate. Avoid the big malls for food and ask about food courts/hawkers. I had no interest in the big attraction like the cable cars, but side trips on bus to maybe Aberdeen or similar would appeal. MUST DO--Star Ferry as ride--tres cheap--not $$ for "tour" either. USe Octopus card to pay!
See flower and/or bird market--as well as major night market in TST--Nathan Road madness..
I'm sure Nick can add plentyy!@
Subway is fasted way and if you have time, see that nunnery and 10,000buddhas. Super cheap--easy and fascinating sights--real HKG.
PS--bus to Robinson Road and HKG zoo (not big but interesting) and gardens. Walk back.

Next time you go, check out Hong Kong Old Restaurant.
There were two locations when we were last there, one in Kowloon, and the other in Hong Kong at the Newton Hotel.

    The food there was amazing!!!!

I went to the Octopus website and Discover Hong Kong website - Ding Ding Tram guide - and I found exactly what I was looking for - thanks again.

As far as Sushi goes, yeah after the first day I will more likely try other foods

You mentioned in your write up and your latest response to use the ATM for exchange. Is it because it is more convenient or the exchange rate is better at ATM?
    .
The Hong Kong section in Tripadvsor is HUGE, so I will make some coffee later and read, read, read.

I will check out the Star Ferry , Flower and Bird market, the Night market the runnery and 10,000 buddhas and the Zoo is definitely a must for me.

    Whew!
I wish my wife was coming this time around but at least I can "figure it out" - with all this help, this time around, so when they make the next trip we won't be fumbling our way through.

Time to get busy finalizing the trip, because I know how this thing works, I am planning to go mid April and I know it will be here in no time.

Thanks again I will provide updates when I can -

We use ATMs because ours has no fee at any machine--USBANK--or USAA
same exchange rate at any bank machne (not same w/private ones--like 7/11s etc)
Make sure you have HK$ for Octopus at airport. I think you have to go up or down from arrivals hall to get to the bank ATMs--just ask anyone w/badge.
If you have local library for HKG book--take a peek or take it w/you. You can get tons of apps thru TAdvisor--arent' those folks just SUPER???
