In Dubai I did the Four Points by Sheraton at Bur Dubai. We used hotel points so it was free, but it is a convenient hotel located within walking deistance to some of the major attractions and virtually across the street from a mall. At night the area is quite busy with peltny of taxis coming up and down the street. Better yet there is metro stop near by.
There is an Indian restaurant in the hotel that is to die for.
