    Although I've never been in First on DL, if you consider Comfort Plus an upgrade, I've been given seats several times there when on a zed ticket. Likewise the equivalent on JetBlue, Alaska and United. However, lately even on AA, it's not that common for the seats up front to be open anyway.

    Uh-huh, with elite upgrades and mileage awards, a seat upfront on a long haul is a distant memory. But for flights under 2 hours, my D1 gets me up front with all he fig bars, cookies and pretzels I can handle. *laughing*
