    Default Negril, Jamaica advice

I have some friends who want to go to Negril for their anniversary in late Sept. Any help towards hotels to hit/avoid, all inclusive or not, etc would be appreciated. Also, airport transportation is an unknown. Btw, they are NOT airline employees, so they will be paying retail price unless I can figure out a way to book and pay for them nonrev without me being there at check in.

Believe it or not, I've never been to Jamaica (or anywhere else in the Caribbean) except for passing thru Trinidad/Port of Spain.

    Muchas Gracias!

I just wanted to point out that when people mention Caribbean, they think islands right away. The Caribbean includes Central America like: Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, all have a Caribbean coast except for El Salvador which is only open to the Pacific Ocean. and Northern South America like Colombia and Venezuela, Guyana's. Maybe you've been to Caribbean more than you know.

I went to Jamaica once and that was enough. I didn't care for the pushy locals preying on travelers. "Go away" after several "no, thank you's" was constant. It was so unpleasant, I can't even recall how nice the beaches were or weren't? It's been a while. You can often get interline rates on interlinetravel friends and family but I can guess they'd be better served doing an apple vacation or similar pkg than adding air on their own. What's their gateway?
How old are they? Are they interested in doing alot of stuff or just vegging? Have them check airbnb.com for private rentals as well as mega-resorts like Secrets etc. Of course, late Sept is early part of hurricane season...choose location wisely.
Hey, that's a start and happy to advise more as info rolls in...

Palms, actually I HAVE been to Guyana a few years back. Wasn't

Thanks, m67r! Gateway is going to be Greensboro/Raleigh/Durham or Charlotte. I'm sure they will wind up going thru CLT and Us Airways, unless something else rolls along. And thks for the reminder for Hurrycane season...I've been out of FLA long enough to have forgotten what one o'them things is.

I have only been to Ocho Rios, so I am no help, but I loved it!
    Great food and friendly people.
I was not bothered by anyone, except a guy in town trying to see my some weed.
I declined and he thought I was a cop. I laughed and told him that even if I was a cop, what jurisdiction do I have down there?

I stayed very local though and not on a resort, so maybe that helped me to not get bothered by hawkers?
