Default Any Small Dog Lovers out there?

I'm a Delta retiree...and have gotten deep into dog rescue. There is a great need to fly small dogs around to help rescues and shelters..and I've been trying to find a group that organizes this. Is anyone aware of such a group, if not, would anyone be interested in doing this? On Delta I can take a small dog under the seat without charge. Assume this is similar with other airlines...if you have any suggestions, pls PM me. Thanks!

You can take a small dog IF there is no one else taking them...There is a limit per cabin. Why can't you promote the rescue/shelter in the places where the dogs are? I don't understand the need to transport animals. I see pax sneeze and complain about animal fur/dander/allergies. Not to mention the barking--or is it ok to drug them. I personally have issues with animals in passenger compartments.
What is the "humanity" when putting animals in carriers and traumatizing them for several hours? What about large dogs? Who's willing to pay for the cargo space? Are they no less worthy of being saved? What about cats? Are they not worthy of saving?(bet there will be lots of comments! haha)
Makes more sense to assist local shelters (especially the no kill ones) with better means, like fund raisers, donations, etc. This is my personal opinion. I sympathize with your cause but have no empathy in the logistics nor the necessity. I hope you do well with your rescue mission. Have you contacted DL?

HI Krazo. One of the benefits of this board is that members can contact one another by (PM) private messaging, no need to reveal your email on a public forum.
Wouldn’t want you inundated by spammers.
    Just looking out for you

I know US Air has partnered with Assistance Dogs International for a program “Puppies in Flight”. Employees use their flight benefits to familiarize service dogs with plane travel and to transport the dogs to their new owners. You could look into that program.

For what it's worth, '67er, I believe that the one animal/plane rule can be overridden if the pilot in command gives authorization, and usually it's not a big issue. I remember that from my basic station training at SkyWest.

Interesting, since animal carriage is not FAA (or is that in the hold only?)Does that make cabin pets furry pax? I've seen some of those! CaptMrs wouldn't have much sympathy about a couple extra Mitzi the Wondershitzu or a Chuy, the manic chihuahua or another Bill The Cat! ACK!! Service animals, yes, but if an extra pet has a cape that says Therapy Companion, he'll be questioning the legitimacy. (we just saw one of those at SLC--weird sort of mixed breed--like Pup of Chucky!!) His concern would be pax safety first--not owner convenience.
Bue, you may call me mrs (saves an apostrophe and numbers) And we've been here together for a long time...Hope I can use the familiar, too.
